eHarmony. com uses a different approach to online dating when compared to other typical online dating websites, where you don’t just set up a personal profile and then proceed to search through other members profiles looking for people you are interested in dating.

With eHarmony, you do zero searching and they will find the matches for you. The whole concept of eHarmony.com is that based on their own scientific research, they believe the key to a successful relationship is compatibility. Given this, when you join their site as a free or paying member, you are automatically matched to other members based on you completing a comprehensive and detailed relationship questionnaire.

A word of warning, be prepared to spend about an hour going through all the questions during the sign up process. We are not saying this is a bad thing but you need to spend the time in the beginning giving detailed and honest answers to all the questions about your own personality traits, beliefs and deep routed values.

This sign up process can put some people off or even force them to rush through the whole thing, but by doing so you will probably be wasting your own time and money. Think about it, you can’t just search through the other members of eharmony yourself, as they will match you up with other members based on the answers you have given.

My Matches

Within the members area you can look through all the matches that eHarmony have found for you. One thing to note from the beginning is that as new member you probably won’t find hundreds of matches in the members area straight away as eHarmony will drip feed you more and more matches everyday as time goes on.

One frustration for free members is that you have limited access to see and contact your selected matches unless you are a paying member. As a free member you can view profiles but you can not view their photos, and other than being able to send a free icebreaker message you will not be able to communicate with your matches either.

However, as a paying member you will have full access to everyone’s photo’s and the various contact methods available, such a the traditional email or you can even request a secure phone call.

If you are interested in someone but don’t want to charge in there straight away there is an alternative way to communicate with someone and find out more about them first. This communication channel is broken down into a few small stages where you can first send an email asking them a few more questions and then asking for their “must have’s and can’t stands”.
